Epoxy Concrete Primer
The native property of every concrete structure is its porosity. Air is bound to be trapped within the pores. When a self-levelling coating permeates into the concrete, the trapped air will come out leading to tiny pin-holes on the coating surface. At times, viscosity of the self-levelling coating increases due to cross-linking of EP binder. Air from the pores come together and stick under the coating surface weakening its mechanical strength leading to chipping. This is where an Epoxy Concrete Primer system comes in to prevent a protective coating from turning into a non-protective one.
The primary use of an Epoxy Concrete Primer is to close the pores to maximise mechanical strength of the concrete structure. Free of entrapped air, the chemical resistance of the coating remains intact. The next most important use is adhesion of a coating with the concrete substrate. EP binder systems delivers excellent adhesion across different substrates including mineralic ones. Priming then becomes the most vital step of most civil coating applications.

Damp tolerant primer for concrete
This is a specialised application in the case of green concrete or concrete in contact with soil, like underground garages. The Epoxy Concrete Primer must withstand pressure of entrapped water from green concrete and reduce pressure of water vapour coming from the soil. For proper adhesion, the Epoxy Concrete Primer system must be applied twice. Two layers are applied at approx. 500 g/m². The first layer is applied without sprinkling sand and for second layer, sand is sprinkled to get a better adhesion with the next layer. Good incorporation of Primer into the surface with a roller applied with pressure, is very critical.
